We need to restrict the focus of our foreign policy toward vital American interests and stop intervening in almost every international skirmish. We don’t have the resources to be a global police force. In his farewell Presidential address, George Washington advised American citizens to view themselves as a cohesive unit and issued a special warning to be wary of attachments and entanglements with other nations.
It is time to reflect upon George Washington’s Farewell Address and decrease, rather than increase, American involvement in foreign conflicts. I therefore oppose the dangerous legislation co-sponsored by Nita Lowey (H.R. 362) which urges a blockade of Iran, and which could provoke another war.
